While we are extremely appreciative that you are coming to the city for our wedding, we hope that you make a trip out of visitng our beautiful home! Here are some things to do while in the city :)

Welcome to our Home
Architecture Tour

An architecture river tour is one of our favorite things to do in the city! It offers incredible views while expert guides share stories about Chicago’s rich design history. We’ve taken the tour many times and always learn something new, including some of our favorite Chicago fun facts - like how the design of the iconic Sears Tower was inspired by a man stacking cigarettes at a bar, or how architects counteract wind in skyscrapers using slosh tanks, breakaway floors, and tiered setbacks.

The Bean - Mellenium Park

One of the most iconic parts of Chicago, The Cloud Gate was created by Anish Kapoor but quickly became known as “The Bean” for, well, obvious reasons. The reflective surface captures the skyline in a stunning way and offers amazing photo opportunities. Located in Millennium Park, it’s just a 10-minute walk from the JW Marriott. Fun fact - Anish Kapoor hates that people call it “The Bean,” but that will never change :) Lauren even had to Google the original name to write this!

360 Skydeck

Located on the 94th floor of the John Hancock Building, this stunning observatory offers breathtaking views of the city — both day and night. Its famous tilting glass lookout lets visitors lean out more than 1,000 feet above Chicago, creating an unforgettable (and slightly scary) experience unlike any other! The observatory is about a 10-minute drive from the JW Marriott and well worth the trip for the views alone.

Grant Park

Grant Park is a large green space in the heart of downtown, a short 10-minute walk from the JW Marriott. It’s home to Buckingham Fountain, tree-lined paths, and beautiful views of the lake and skyline. Whether you’re passing through on a walk, taking a quick photo, or spending the afternoon there, it’s one of the city’s most recognizable and picturesque spots.

Museums

There are dozens of incredible museums to explore in Chicago, but a few of our favorites include the Museum of Science and Industry, the Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, the Chicago Architecture Center, the Chicago History Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Most are just a short drive or walk from the JW Marriott, making them easy to visit during your stay.

Chicago Cubs Game

Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, is located about 30 minutes north of the JW Marriott. It’s one of the most historic ballparks in the country and a classic Chicago experience. We absolutely love catching a game whenever we can, and even went to one of the playoff games this year! It’s the perfect way to spend your free time … GO CUBBIES!!

Chicago Bears Game

Soldier Field is approximately 10 minutes southwest from the JW Marriott. (Go Chiefs & Viks though!)

Theater

Go to the theater for a play, musical, show etc.
